I have read this thread months ago. Was there anything done? If not count me in to send a letter. Like other owners, I do not mind the plastic. I once took my S to the dealer and complained about the vision (with only 6600mi currently 7500mi). They buffed it and sure looks nicer but still with scratches.

Is this a dead issue? Did Honda decide it wasn't worth replacing the top? I just got my 2000 S2000 and just sent a letter in support of replacing the rear window. What's the latest on this subject?

I had my top replaced due to the well known wear issue. It's all over this board... wear behind the driver's left ear and passenger's right ear.
Anyway I've heard of a number of folks who've had this problem and had their top replaced with a 2003 top... usually costs them $300-800 dollars to upgrade but the rest is covered by Honda ($2500 job) I pointed it out to the Service folks and they could see it and told me to come back when the factory rep was in. I did and she said they'd replace the top.
When I was talking to the Service guys I suggested it would be a good time to upgrade to a glass window and understood I might have to cover a couple or few hundred bucks.
The good folks at AutoWest Honda called me when the parts were in and replaced the top.... FREE. I now have a glass window.

jedwards, you are very fortunate . . . AHM refused to help, so consider yourself lucky, you had a good factory rep and a good dealership. . . somehow I doubt AHM suddenly cares.
