Anyone running the 4.3's ?
Is anyone running the 4.3's? What are your impressions, now that you have had them do you feel that you should have gone with something else? I think the 4.56's will be to tall for highway driving.
I know you wanted to hear from those who have the 4.3's but I kinda doubt anyone does. This is not exactly a cheap mod and it's not a simple calibration. 4.3's just aren't "different" enough from stock to be a good investment. I have the 4.44's with a S/C and sometimes I wish I had just a bit more. Those who have 4.77's don't feel that highway cruising is too much. I'm not so sure about that but having cruised with the 4.44's, I think the car can easily handle 4.56's at highway speeds.
If you are still leary about 4.56's, I've seen a couple of 4.44's for sale lately and I would imagine that as the 4.56's get into more owner's cars that 4.44's will be on the used marketplace.

I asked this question a few months ago; Rick Hesel wrote back saying to his knowledge nobody's running the 4.3s.
I remember reading that they're the most popular gear mod in Japan. Consensus North American opinion is that they just don't provide the same bang for the buck as 4.44s and above.
Someone else may have more current info.

they definitely wouldn't be too "tall." I think you meant short? anyways, I think the 4.56 or 4.44 or 4.77 gears are fantastic Mod's, and are damn near the best performance gain per dollar for this car. I think a 4.56 wouldn't be too bad on the freeway as long as you keep your speeds down, which it may make harder to do. at the same time, the extra buzz might make you check up when you find yourself screaming along at 85 in mild traffic....something that might not happen with the stock ratio.
I think it's odd that it's the most popular mod in japan...i mean, don't all cars come with a 112 MPH limiter? top speed's not an issue...there's a lot of traffic in japan....lots of twisty windy roads where an extra mechanical advantage would make it way more fun...overall if i was in japan i'd hit the 4.77's to make city driving in traffic easier, give it a little zoom for merging at low speeds in 2nd or 3rd gear, and maybe evern use less gas overall due to a lighter right foot. just my .02c...I'm sure they have their reasons, though...the japanese rarely do things that don't make sense.
