As to those who are mentioning canvas, not interested. My Dad's Z4 had a canvas top and it was a PITA to keep clean. I would have changed it for vinyl if I owned that car. Much, much, much less up keep.

Hey, i have that top installed on my '01. It's really good. We did a install day in the the deep south (georgia) a few months ago and installed 4-5 tops. I think we got them for $450 or so? Quality is pretty good and as all tops, a major pita to install.

here's my pic

No one seems to mention that the vinyl OEM top is not durable at all compared to canvas. The average lifespan for the OEM top is about 4 years before you start to see cracks or rips. I had mine replaced already due to the top mecanism wearing through and making a hole on the vinyl.

My MY2000 has a split vinyl window. Is it possible to just get a glass replacement without changing the top?

Try a trim shop. They can probably replace your window with the top on.
They might not be able to do a glass window though.

My POS top only lasted 14 months before it developed a rip.

Speedster- This is the first glasswindow I've ever had with any of my cars. I would note that it is undoubtaby an upgrade over vinyl however to spend more than a couple of hundred to switch doesn't seem worth it to me. The vinyl window is still the most classic look and the glass the most modern. Glad I've got glass but could have easily lived with vinyl.

I'm afraid not. The whole top must be changed. The sections must be different to accommodate the glass window as it folds.

The OEM top is very durable. Not one person in our local club has had their top replaced yet. My top goes up and down constantly and still looks like new.

Canvas is only durable if you CONSTANTLY take care of it and is not recommended for cars that aren't garaged.
