Is anyone's S2000 a "weekend car"
My insurance company (Progressive) let me insure it as a "recreational/secondary" car on my policy even though my primary driver (company car) is with another insurance company. I had to send them proof that I was listed on my company's policy.
BTW, my S costs $775 per 6 months to insure.

My S is insured as a recreational vehicle, so there's technically a mileage limit of 7k I think.
this is usually the case, you have to have two or more cars and the S be the lesser driven of the two. Usually the limit is in the 5-7k range for getting the lower rateEvery state is different though with insurance
I do somewhat of the same thing, I use my 95 camry most of the time for work and running errands, and the S on nice days and weekends. I drive the S a lot in summer but rarely in winter. My insurance is much cheaper with my Camry as the main rated vehicle.
hmm it depends on ur insurance guy... my whole family uses one insurance guy so all of our cars (well 3 out of 4) are lsited as weekend cars.... when we have had to file a claim or nething like that they never check our mileage and never have even asked to....
But the reason is also the insurance agent is my dads close friend and we give them alot of business so it depends...

For $750 Matt you cant go wrong by doing this. I have an Accord I drive daily. It makes getting in the S a real treat.

I tried to keep it as a weekend car but failed we have an extra car in the family a 1981 Benz 300 Turbo Diesel and i tried to use that as a DD but i can go from the S2 and back to benz so i ended up using the S2000 as my DD it an 06 and i already have 22xxx miles on her. anyway i dont plan and getting rid of the S ever so i dont care about miles

Yeah, in order for this to really work the Civic needs to get a clean bill of health- if it does need a timing belt I wouldn't let that be a deal breaker I don't think- I just replaced mine on the Accord. And alot might depend on your long range plans for the S. If it's a stepping stone to a Cayman after you graduate and knock down 6 figures, then I might stay focused on the future and just drive the S for now. Do you know who drove the car (Civic)and mileage?
