I belive the Ap2 an better overall car. Its newer, faster (only by a little but still about 1 or 2 car lenghts from a 40 roll).
How can you say AP2 is faster?!

I think my quarter mile time of 13.7 @ 99 bone stock shows that AP1s arnt slower!

Technically, wouldn't the 8200K redline be the much, much, much louder screamer? 9K would seem whisper-quiet!

I believe the 2.2l motor has to spin at around 8500k to equal the 2.0l 9k so the Ap1's 2.0l motor would be more of a screamer due to the crank being able to spin faster to a higher rpm(I just know what I've read here so please do not quote me on this). The 2.2l was reingineered so it has a bit more torque on the bottom end and power comes in at earlier rpms so there would be no need to rev that high up in the rpms...but to have a screamer ya gotta go all da way to 9k.

If you want to get technical, the AP1 actually cuts out at 8900 rpm.

Imo the best is an AP2 with a slightly higher redline. You can do that with a reflash or AP1 ecu.
I agree with you...heck, after I get the kraftwerks kit I'm gonna have hondata extend my redline to 8500k(while I send in my ecu to get reprogrammed already for the kit)due to it always being tricky to stay in the power band in the 1-2 shifts. All my other shifts are fine but that damn 1-2 shift drops me below 6k for a moment(which I hate).

It would have to spin at 9k to equal 9k. The F22C makes more power in a different place, which is one reason the redline is lower. Honda beefed up internals as well.

All that shows is that you ran a quarter at that time - it doesn't show that your cr is faster than any other.

First...I saw that clip 4-5 years ago and it's still annoying. Especially Bubba Rubb or whatever his name is and his trusty ugly little sidekick. I especially love how they ran that stop sign while testing out thier little whistle whoo thingy.

Second...I watched a comparison between the 2.0l and 2.2l(ap1-ap2) and one of the main designers clearly stated that for the 2.2l, the crank has to spin at about 8500k rpm to equal the speed the 2.0l crank spins at 9k rpms. I don't know how to get the video displayed and I know its mostly in japanese with translations.

That is where I learned that info from so like I stated earlier...Don't quote me on the info because everything I've learned was from this site or info and videos that were linked from this site.

I'm just saying, 9k is 9k. I think you're talking about piston velocity, which is the same at a lower rpm in the F22C due to the increased b&s.

you can raise the AP2's redline to 8400 rpm without issue. Also, the AP1's power starts to tapper of around 8300 rpm or so.

Stock fuel cutout is like 8300 rpm - I'd say you can go to 8600 safely.
