Default AP1 to AP2

Sold my Ap1 in August and I'm going to buy another S2k because i didn't realize how much i'd miss it.

I'm either going to buy a cheap AP1 or lower priced Ap2. I'm curious how different the Ap2 feels. I heard the ride is not as rough. Is the extra torque noticeable? Does it take off easier from a stop?

Also, since vtec is shorter, does it feel slower up top?

Sounds like you need to go for a test drive.

I had an 02 AP1 and now have an 04 AP2. from my experience the ride in the AP1 didnt seem as rough but, i think that was due to the AP2 having 17's and more aggressive summer tires. There is a noticeable amount of more mid range power as well. Its not a whole lot but it is noticeable. I really dont think one is faster then the other if both are driven right.

I suggest you drive one yourself. Everyone has different opinions. For example, AP1 FTW IMO. I definitely notice a difference, and perfer the AP1. YMMV.

I drove new 03 and 04s back to back when I bought mine. I found the AP2 to be a better car in lots of little ways and preferred more power sooner, and worth the small premium from when they were new. I'd still get an AP2 today if I had the choice, but neither is a bad car. You're better off with any S2000 than none.
awesome thanks for your input. Can you name a few "small ways" it was better? Also, was the cornering ability just as good as the 03?

Yes, but slightly more rubber on the road, slightly smoother suspension, revised VTEC, made the car feel more confident imo.

Small ways included the larger wheels and a design I liked better, revised interior that I thought was nicer, nicer headlights, LED tail lights, etc.

The first S2000 I drove was a Spa Yellow 02, and thats when I fell in love with S2000s. The GPW/tan was avail as an 03 and 04, and I ended up with the 04.

if its not gonna be your DD, then i'd consider getting a AP1 and building it up the way you want it to be
