Ditto on the 2.2 + '01 ECU, that's exactly what I'd do.
And ditto on being very conservative on how often you take it to 9k!
They're reliable to 9k. Billman's never had a problem last I heard with the f22's he had put ap1 ecus into. It'll just wear the cylinder walls quicker do to the increase in stroke.
Life at 9k rpm WILL be shorter for a 2.2 vs. a 2.0, all else being equal. Greater applied stresses (+10% from peak piston acceleration) => reduced life. Whether or not the reduced life is acceptable is another question, dependant on individual usage and expectation.
It does seem that Honda's 8k (or 8200) redline on the 2.2 is quite conservative relative to 9k on the 2.0. The 2.2 shouldn't reach 2.0@9krpm peak piston acceleration/stress levels until ~8580rpm.
Personally, I wouldn't have any qualms about running a 2.2 at 9k rpm semi-regularly.

By reliable I mean I don't think the motor will ever snap a rod or throw a bearing by revving it to that rpm as long as it gets it's oil changes. It's going to see regular wear at an accelerated pace compared to an f20. But what's that mean? It'll only last 200k miles VS. 300k?
i'm pushing almost 15k on my f22 swap with zero problems.I love it becuase its the best of both worlds. i highly recommend the f22, but be careful if you plan on tracking it. i treat the f22 as if it were an f20, the only thing i watch out for is not staying in the 8500-9k range for long.
here is my f22c with 01 ecu dyno, my f20 only did 201whp and 135 tq with the same bolt ons.
all depends on what you're willing to undertake. for simplicity, I'd just be looking to keep things to a low mileage direct swap with an AP1. on many days I wish my AP2 spun to 9K.
thanks alot guys, my car is a 2000 ap1 with 112k miles i was just taking it out for a ride after changing the plugs to a new set of the stock ones, torqued correctly and i took it to 9k bounced the rev limiter like once put it in 3rd and like 5 seconds later the check engine came on. i definitley know how to drive and it was deff not a mis shift, did a compresion test the next day cylinder number 1 ZERO, i was like ****. took the head off and on the intake side of cylinder 1 had like 1 cracked reatainer and various ones on the other cylinders, but the compresion was around 170 for the other 3 but they had slightly cracked retainers. a few burnt valves and scratched cylinder walls. i think this was due to high mileage. but thanks for the suggestions. ya if i was going to get the f22 i would stick with the ap1 drivetrain i like its gearing but other than that i dnt no i mite just stick with the f20 im just lookin for some feed back
