AP1 faster than AP2?
I just watch some DVD again, and confirm by some video clips from internet.
I find out when each gear hitting the RED ZONE of AP1 is:
1st gear → 39mph
2nd gear → 60mph
3rd gear → 90mph
4th gear → 118mph
5th gear → 143mph
6th gear → 151~155?
Then I drive my S2K out and see my performance like below:
1st gear → 38mph
2nd gear → 57mph
3rd gear → 78mph
4th gear → 100mph
5th gear → ? (traffic)
6th gear → ? (traffic)
Although my list wasn't complete, but look at the 4th gear speed, there's 18mph different!?
I know F20C1 & F22C1 is different, how about gear ratio?
Start raining outthere, so I don't think I can hit the road again tonight, but I might try the 5th gear someday, 6th gear must be wait for the track day in the future. Anyone knows the 5th & 6th gear # for AP2?

They're about the same when it comes to speed. AP2 does have slightly better gears though.
Look at this site for exact speed at redline:

The gear ratios on the AP2 are shorter for gears 1-4, so your top speed is lower, but if the engines were exactly the same acceleration would be better on the AP2's gear ratios.
The AP1 and AP2 engines aren't the same of course (F20C versus F22C), and so acceleration wise it really ends up being a wash (the car are roughly equal in acceleration).
Gears 5 and 6 are actually taller than the AP1 though, so top speed in 5th gear should be slightly higher and theoretical top speed in 6th gear should be higher, although the S2000 is drag limited, it will never reach its theoretical top speed in 6th gear.

Yeah ap1 and ap2 are the same when it comes to acceleration. And as for top speed, even though the ap1 is geared to be able to reach 174mph, it won't get much past 155-160, due to drag limitation. (not enough power to overcome the drag at that speed) The ap2 is geared to reach about 155mph so essentially they both top out at the same speed, one mechanically limited, the other drag limited.
by the way, the ap1 shifts at about
1st 44
2nd 66
3rd 91
4th 118
etc etc

And especially coming out of a 05 STI ...
