that's because your car has the kind of power to cause speedo lag at 126mph and ours don't.

Yeah ap1 and ap2 are the same when it comes to acceleration
OK, so most of our fellow believe that AP1 & AP2 should pick up the same speed eventually, what I saw just a GEAR RATIO issue.
So do you think Honda place F22C1 (0.2 bigger & cut 1K rpm) and change a closer gear ratio to AP2, because they wanna make the engine more reliable and coverup the AP1's low rpm weakness?
By the way, I still think 9K rpm was a legendary

the reason for the change was to appease those who wanted more low end grunt, and wanted a more fluid acceleration rate. so between the gearing and the extra .2 liters they accomplished that. the tradeoff was the redline had to be lowered due to changes made in the bottom end. this is what ends up keeping the ap2 the same acceleration as the ap1. if the ap2 could redline to 9k, then it would be faster.

smaller displacement generate less torque
the mechanics/physics associated with larger displacement motor lowered its redline / safe operating limit
torque at wheel (for acceleration) = torque generated at flywheel * gearing
lower redline means to get roughly equivalent max ground/linear speed in each gear (for driveability), gearing has to be taller (numerically lower)

so bigger motor = more torque * lower gearing = same torque applied to wheel

roughly.

there are your apples and oranges

have you guys noticed 3rd gear is almost perfectly matched for RPMs and MPH in a stock AP1? basically after 35 mph. just multiply your MPH by 100 and that's what your RPMs are (roughly).

I have a 2 month old 06. Totally stock except for the Zaino wax coat. The other night I topped it out, it might have been very slightly downhill. It redlined (Rev limiter engaged) in 6th at 153, and was still accellerating a little bit when that happened.
