Default Ap1 v.s. AP2

i'm pretty sure there is a thousand of these threads but i just have to let it out.

i have owned a MY06 for three and a half years and i loved it more and more. i became more in love with it everyday. i loved the low end torque, it didnt have much as my other cars but it would still get up and go, and then it was a beast after 6k rpm. it handles great, i could take turns harder than anything i have ever driven. i absolutely loved it. i knew the ap1 came with an engine that rev to 9k and mine only did 8k. but i never understood the big deal about the two engines and why people would develop this conflict of f20 v.s. f22. as a matter of fact, the very first thread that i read about 3 years ago when i first joined this site, reason why it said i have been here for about over a year is because i went to vietnam for a long ass time and when i got back i forgot my user name and password , but the the very first thread i read was a poll between the "jet engine sound of 9K or more torque 8K" i was like wtf, so they make the same power. and they both handle very well. both has there cool look. i thought they were barely any difference between the two and i didnt understand why people would have this long discussion about the differences of just .2 of a liter; UNTIL TODAY!!!!!

my friend, fadiss2k, traded cars with me. he has an ap1 and i have and ap2. he took my car so he could install ap1 cams into my car. and i use my s2k as a daily driver so he let me barrow his. and when he drove off with my car, i was worry that he will go crazy with my car because when he drives my car when im still in it, he goes nuts with my s. well i thought wait a minute, i can go crazy in his. so i took it to the freeway, and with no one around i stopped on the on ramp and waited till the cost was clear. i gun that son-of-a-b***h and HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! i shifted early at 8700 or so. i was not used to that 9k redline. i mean i raised mine to 8500 in my MY06, but 9k it just crazy!!!!!!! the sound and the feel you get when you are at the 9k limit. WOW!!!! i am very used to my car, dont get me wrong i love it every time i go to 8500, but when i took this car to 9k it was insane. i was very impressed. it wasnt any faster than my s2000 i know . i have a lot of things under my hood and he is still bone stock. it is alot about the feeling of being so high up in the rpm and the crazy whine, well maybe not a whine but that sound of 9k, AH!!! when i was revving to 9k i had this big smile on my face all the way home. honda should kept both engines and offer both as an option. i finally get it. i now understand why so many people would prefer the f20 over the f22. i would still pick my ap2 f22 . but i can no longer truly defend my f22, because i will always know that the guy who is siding with the f20 has one hell of a motor and if i did not dd my car i would love to have a 2003 s2000. but the my s2000 is perfect for me and my dd habits, with its better low end and vsa.

i am not trying to get flame of trying to flame anyone. but i finally get why someone would love the f20 so much. this is my opinion and i respect everyone's opinions, please do not leave dumb/childish comments. this is just my 2 cents. and feel free to add your own experience(s).

i know alot of people trade-in for ap1 to ap2, why and why ap2 to ap1?

I test drove both before buying my '07. Maybe the car I test drove wasn't in the best of conditions (whereas the '07 was a fairly new demo), but the extra 1k rpm didn't do anything for me.

I've read that Honda needed to reduce the RPM on the F22 b/c of it's longer stroke. If the F22 were to rev to 9000 rpm, it would be akin to the F20 reving to 10,500rpm.

Sick! Im sure its just the "difference" -if I were to drive a AP2, I'm sure I'd go nuts with the "OMG SO MUCH MORE TORQQQ." you know? Im glad you love the AP1 engine though .

yea, i could never comprehend why people would argue over ,2 liters that puts out the same horsepower. and it is not faster but that 9k makes a difference. i was shocked. i am used to shifting at 8500 on my ap2 and that is the limit of my ap2 2.2l so going to 9k was a bit of a different experience.

The piston speed of an F20 at 9k is about the same as the piston speed of an F22 at 8.5k.
