Default AP2 Gauge Cluster Swap

Having electonic issues with my current AP2 gauge cluster. I have been told that it would be best to just install a different cluster...long story. If I install a used cluster that I bought, will the mileage change to the last mileage registered on the new cluster, or is the mileage memory for the digital display in the ECU, or some other electronic portion of the car?

I have changed analog clusters, and obviously they change, but I am not sure about the digital gauge swap.

Any input?

Thanks....

I think the mileage is tied to the cluster, but dont quote me on that.

Yeah unfortunately the miles stay with the cluster, so whatever miles are on the new cluster will be your new mileage.

I wonder if Honda could somehow put your old mileage on a new cluster. I mean I would think that they would have a way to do that in case of a faulty cluster or something.

I read somewhere that when you get your cluster replaced by Honda, they provide a certificate stating what mileage your previous cluster was before the replacement. The mileage on the new cluster will start at 0.

Not sure about Honda, but with Mercedes they reprogram the new cluster at the factory and send it to you. Takes about a month to get done.

FACTS: honda can program in your miles, but you have to bring in the paper work.

resell value will go down like a rock if your record indicates a inconsistently odo reading

I wonder if the '08 cluster is compatible. If so, you should go for it. I love the full ark of the rev meter to temp meter to gas meter.
