I have some time off work coming up and decided to take a crack at replacing my top. I have Cyclone's guide ready to go and a few youtube videos lined up to reference. For whatever reason it seems nearly all the guides I've found are for AP1s, any major differences between AP2s I should be looking out for? Any helpful tools aside from the obvious I should get? Any techniques or warnings you found helpful before you did yours?

The top going on is a Robbins stayfast cloth, and it didn't come with directions. IIRC some forum posts said their directions are mostly useless but I might press them harder for a PDF if anyone here thinks its worth it and would help as well.

 

Find someone who has done a number of these top installs and then pay them to do it.

 

Invest in a good quality rivet gun, possibly a battery powered Milwaukee one? The only soft top I have ever replaced was on a friend's AP1 back in 2008. I replaced it with a Robins with glass window. Too far back to remember any pointers, but I do remember the one I had was a pos and I ended up borrowing a high end hand rivet tool. But I would have loved to use a powered one.
