I have owned both an AP1 and an AP2. I have almost 100,000 miles of seat time between the two of them, so I know them both inside and out. I can honestly say that I love them both equally. When I first got my AP2 I thought it was watered down, but after a few thousand miles, my thoughts changed. As most people here know, the S2k's engine doesn't really open up until it has a few thousand miles on the clock, so my car is much faster than it was when I drove it off the lot. Also, the revised suspension is not as bad as I had feared. It is much more neutral, which means easier drifting and more confident power-oversteer . Yes, there is slightly more understeer dialed in, but that can all be solved with the steering wheel and your right foot.

They are both tremendous cars and I am happy to have owned them both.

During this festive season, I am going to grant you the following gift:

I hereby re-rate your car's HP in terms of SME. You now have 856.9 HP as per the standards agreed upon at the last "Society of Martian Engineers".
Merry Christmas. Go in Peace.
oh great, now the domestic fanbois will be giving us crap for having a car with a torque rating that is 1/5 of the horsepower

I kind of agree with the orignal poster on some points. I own an ap1 and test driven man Ap2's. Everything feels softer to me. Clutch was very light and easy to press down. the Vtec crossover is smoother on the Ap2, like u almosy cannot feel it. But the Ap2 is a littel faster none the less. Ap1 just feels faster because of that Vtec crossover but really isnt.

That's one comment I've read before and I absolutely "don't" understand.

I can see where the VTEC transition might be a "little" less abrupt because the AP2 makes better power below VTEC rpms so the difference isn't as great, but to say you almost can't feel it?? Only if someone popped your arse with a load of novacaine before you got in the car!

Hi Saab9-3,

I noticed some time ago that you sold the S2000 and bought a SLK55AMG... Now returning to the S2000 scene... Any thoughts on the swap?

Thankx,
Frank.

So.. the local honda dealership was offering to buy back my 03' s2000.. so i decided to investigate a little further and they offered a trade to a new 05 s2000.. and they managed to make a deal with me to swap cars.. however.. after driving the 05 s2000.. it became clear that the car was a big dissapointment.. .( WATERED DOWN SPORTS CAR!! ) The clutch, shifter, suspension.. was all loose and geared towards comfortablity.. or other words.. more for the everday driver.. did not really feel like a sports car.. moreso like a convertible civic.. or something of that sort.. the increased displacement was not even noticable... if not a little slower.. but thats just my 10 cents..
Sounds like you can't afford the '05 and have now convinced yourself you've got the "better" car...
