ap2 vs ap1
In that f20c verse f22c video it displayed their fastest times.
1. 49.36 seconds.
2. 49.25 seconds.
Can anyone read japanese in that video and figure out which car got which time? anyways, based on the time, it doesn't prove that one is that much better. Engines when put on the track churned out practically the same times.
My thoughts on the video>
There's no denying that the F22C engine has more torque to get out faster, but I think in a circuit racing scenario, both cars will hit the curves about the same and it comes down to how the drivers utilize their advantages when leading or chasing in the corners.
The torque is good for coming out of slow rounding corners where you can't carry that momentum and speed you've gained leading up to that corner so the torque advantage allows you to get out of of the slow slump. In most of the corners, I think Wakasaka (F20C) was carrying more speed through the corners, but the battle in the corners had the advantage to the leading car... the lead car knows he has more torque, he can control his line through blocking and braking so he can control the exit speed that the chase car has on him thus continue to lead.
Overall I thought it was a great battle, would have been nice to see this swap positions.

when i bought my old 03, it was because i couldnt afford an ap2, so i was very biased, and justified my purchase. when the day came that i had the money for an upgrade, i jumped all over it! i was also one that bragged about "9K"....and after getting the 06, i realized it WAS over-rated. both are great cars though!!
im in the market for An S2000 also. I've benn driving a DC4 LS for about a year and live hitting just 7K so the 8K in the AP2 sould do fine for me because it will be my only car. if i could get two cars, the AP1 would Def be a trackish car. I could get a AP1 for DD but it just seems as an everyday car the AP2 seems much more of a logical choice. Either way im gonna have a hell of a time driving it. I love my integra, and its only going to get better from here on out.
Having owned a 2003, 2006 & 2007 S2000, plus a 2006 Porsche Boxster S, and a 2006 Lotus Elise, and a 2007 BMW 335i ... the AP1 vs. AP2 debate is really misleading and pointless. Car owners generally have a bias towards the car they own, as they should because many make a conscience decision as to the attributes they choose in their car, whether it is daily driving or racing characteristics they desire most or both. For instance, my Lotus Elise is incredible on the track, but is a terrible daily driver. The Porsche Boxster S is an incredible daily driver, but is really not a track car and will depreciate the full price of an S2000 in a 3-year period. As for the S2000, the 9k rpm advantage of the AP1 may be novel and represents to many the essence of the S2000's strength, but it also quite frankly points out an inherent weakness as compared to cars with tremendous low end grunt such as the BMW 335i, where VTEC-like power comes on at 1500 rpm's, making for a much wider power band. Comparing an AP1 to an AP2 is subtle and will always be subjective. When you start comparing the S2000 with an Elise, Boxster, or BMW, the differences are no longer subtle, and have been discussed on countless forum threads. In the end, the S2000 represents the best combination of value and performance on the market from when it was first introduced in AP1 form to today's AP2 iteration, an incredible achievement.

Well Technicly the Ap1 has m ore power than the Ap2 so torque is probobly what you meant and the Ap2 does have more because the displacement is bigger so it probobly feals a little quicker. However I have drivin both of them and to be honist I didn't feel much of a differance. I think the Ap2 looks better but I love my 9 grand redline from my Ap1.
