Ok... i hope this idea works.. and that no one steals my idea.. just kidding...
but would it work if we can cut into the driver side visor? since it doesn't really swing side to side, only up and down, we can cut it and run the cable that way, out the hole where the silver part is.. and down the pillar. and to the ECU... would that be possible? well, duh, anything is possible.. but would it look right? since i can flip it down if i want to look at it.. and flip it up when i get tired of looking at it..
There are many functions that can be used when you are driving your S2000 with
the VAFC. Like rpm, vtech on-off, voltage, etc. Why mounted it out of your direct line
of sight. Mount it on the dash to show you are serious in tuning.
Get an Apex RSM meter also to measure 0-60, gforce, drag force, etc.
well your idea is good but not new... integras have been doing this mounting method for a while now... heres a pic of a clean looking job. the only thing that sucks about it is that its mounted on the right mirror, i have no idea why (i think that their ecu's are on the right though)
thats how mines gonna look!
That's really not to bad either. I wonder how it would look in our car, on the drivers side. The install probably wouldn't be too bad either....
I am having difficulty finding the exact dimesions of the V-AFC unit. I went to the Apex website but was unable to find them. I have asked Rick Hesel to come in and provide me/us some additional advice on mounting the unit in the radio cover. Thus far is seems that:
1) There will be no problem integrated the unit into the door - retaining full functionality of the swivel and the radio.
2) The issue that I am trying to resolve are: wiring (Rick?), tools needed (besided Dremel), and time taken.
3) I will most likely have a shop do the work/wiring. However, I want to get an idea of where to put it and where to run it. I don't want it dangling about and would like to somehow integrate it through the radio area?
This is a great thread - thank you all for your help.
