Default Approaching 90K miles

Hi guys, my S2k is approaching 90k, and I was wondering what should I do to make the car run better. Currently I'm thinking...

Replace brake fluid
Replace differential fluid
Replace transmission fluid
Replace spark plugs
Oil Change
Valve adjustment
Replace dust and pollen filter

How does those sound? Do more, or less?

Not sure...what does the manual recommend for the 90k interval? Also, what previous maintenance was done on the vehicle. At a minimum, I believe those are all good things to change out. You might want to throw a compression test in there as well for good measure.

I don't know where you're located but I would just go to Billman in Long Island, NY. I'm going to him when I get my next S2000, from what I hear you really feel a difference after he works on your car.

I got my car 2nd hand, I don't think I have the manual anymore :| and I'm located in Cal. I was wondering, should I just take my car to firestone or midas etc? Or should I take it to the dealership? I know they charge a lot..

The rest of that is well in the scope of anyone who knows how to change a tire on their car and has jackstands.
You should take it to an import specialty shop if you can. You want guys who actually know and love working on import sports cars doing the work on it. You don't want a low end "lube shop" doing that stuff on your S2000.

You do realize that a 5 year old could change the spark plugs on a Honda inline 4 cylinder, right? It can be done in about 10 minutes even your first time around using simple hand tools you can get at a local autoparts store. Use the money you'll save in doing it yourself to buy some good tools and download the service manual.

The only thing you should take your S in to the dealership for (unless you find a specialty import shop as noted by JLUDE) is the valve adjustment and compression test. Everything you can, and should, do on your own. Trust me, this is the first car I have ever worked on and I have been able to do all of that and then some on my own. The satisfaction of a job well done, plus the knowledge you learn, is the biggest payoff.

The DIY/FAQ section has detailed instructions on how to do all of that, so use the experience from others to your own advantage.

Check your local forum for shop recommendations.

I say learn a few things about your car by doing those fluid swaps yourself... none of those are a major deal...

everything but the valve adjustment can be done easily by yourself. I'd also recommend replacing your coolant too.

Make sure your wheel bearings are in good shape too - they are bound to be getting worn soon as well as your timing chain tensioner.
