This is the year we've heard the most rumors of a redesign, and most of them have been consistent of the hardtop with 10hp more. If the new model is priced the same, I would think 2003 would be cheaper, due to people having the choice of power improvement over the older model. But then again, it's convertible vs hardtop, so I don't know.

Doing some research on the R&T and C&D websites yeilded rumors of an S2200 which is the above mentioned coupe. It is supposed to be 2.2L with 250HP and, obviously, a hard top.

There is also talk about the FP models. Honda released (in the states) a Civic SI FP (Factory Performance) model here with a bunch of suspension tweaks as well as a new wheel/tire package. The head of the factory performance group is the guy who designed the suspension for the NSX. R&T has an article on this whole deal. They even tested a Japanese version of the "FP" S2000. Bottom line is engine/tranny unchanged. All tweaks are under the chassis. New 5 position adjustable suspension stiffness and 17" wheels. Check out the link:

If you have troble with the link just go to: http://www.roadandtrack.com and search for S2000. The article is titled "Honda Factory Performance"

Only change for 2004 will be that spa yellow will no longer be produced! hardtops in that color are already being reduced at the dealer level, all else is pure speculation on all your behalf...

i think that it would be more cost effective for honda to put the 250hp engine into BOTH vehicles. Why spend the time and energy to produce both variants?

so if a new model coupe does end up coming out , then will the s2000 disapear or will there most likely be a choice of convertible offered now and a new coupe?
