It's very hard to get into an s2k with one unless they rip the top and use it. Ask anyone who has ever locked their keys in their car.
Don't kid yourself. I could get into a locked S2000, top up, with a straightened coat hanger in less than 30 seconds and damage nothing.
Oh and the guy with the motion sensor camera? I'll rip it out and steal that too.

Thanks Zero. I was looking at the Clifford 12.5X but now that you mentioned the 50.7X, i looked up the specs and WOW, I am pretty set on this or it's twin(viper 5901, basically the same thing) but the clifford looks better. I have a question, do you use the remote start alot, would you recommend it? I wonder if I can get it installed without it. 650 is pricey but I think its worth it to protect the S. Thanks again Zero.

Remind me not to bring my S to your neck of the woods.

Not that hard.
Only took this tow driver about 3 minutes to get in so we could get the keys out of the guy's trunk (thankfully his secret compartment wasnt locked).

I told them not to install the remote start. I would never use it, and it cost more to install it. Plus, since we have a manual tranny, we would have to turn the car off in a specific sequence. IE: hit brake, then clutch, then move shifter to neutral, then ebrake up, then hit the vsa button or something like that. Just seemed more hassle than worth it.

The range on this unit is incredible. I work in a big building in downtown, and I get warnings from my desk on the 5th floor. I just walk to the other side of the office and look out on the windows to see if my car is fine. I can arm and disarm from the 5th floor.

I had them mount the antenna/LED right above the rear view mirror. When the LED flashes, the dash pretty much illuminates blue since it's so bright.

Don't worry. I have my own S2000 with more crap in it than you can shake a stick at. I don't need to steal yours.

That's a bit on the slow side of average for a good "hook". The S2000 is a "frameless" window type of car. They're easiest. 3 minutes is what it should take to get into a "framed" window type of car.

BTW, it doesn't really matter if the glove box on your S is locked or not. Even locked, you can just pull on the door. The latch is so soft, it'll just bend out of the way. When done, unbend it. No damage. Go ahead, try it one day.

to start off, I would just like to say I am a sk2i noob but I have been using this site for awhile now after getting my S. Anyways so I work at Walgreens pharmacy and I usually park in the same exact spot, not directly in front of hte store but the parking spaces behind that at a corner spot. So I was leaving for my lunch break and i walked up to my car and I see this long bike cable about 2 ft long with each end stripped about 6". One end was in a shape of a Jadn the other end was bent. basically like this pic:

http://www.carunlocktools.com/images/11573...2948012982.jpeg where the end like like a J.

Anyways I found it laying next to my car door on the floor. Was this an attempt to break into the S?! I got to work at 9am and i got out to my car at 2pm and i saw it there. Its broad day light? Im just wondering if they wanted to steal the car/seat/ or hoping i have a nice stereo system. This happened Friday and I'm still like shocked/scared about it bc I love the S. Anyways sorry about hte long post and if its not correctly posted. I'm a noob. I was wondering what I should do to as in security wise. What is the best alarm for our S. I'm planning to get seat locks also.
Well I had a break in and had my seats taken, so I got a pretty good alarm. I got a Python, which seems to be pretty good. Just make sure its got a battery back up, and has a remote to take inside. It also has to have proximity with motion. Unfortunately for all of us S2000 people, we have to have a good one with all the thefts that have occurred with the car. Get the seat locks to. I have those as well.
