Attention !! All Sebring Silver owners.............
Hey Brad, how much mountain driving have you been doing with other S2000's? When I follow Dave (s2k Dude), the S02's have a nasty habit of kicking up everything on road. I now have S02's on my Mustang also and notice a significant amount of rocks, etc. being kicked up. I would suggest that you use a nose mask (and maybe even mirror covers) for all "spirited" driving. Around town you should be fine.
I am interested in hearing if if this is a common Sebring Silver thing, however since I have one on order. I look forward to meeting you at one of the upcoming S2000 Atlanta events.

Hey Brett,
Yes, I did a few runs thru the mountains with the Atlanta guys (almost hit S2K Dude on my first run
), but the majority of the chips are recent, which would have just been normal Atlanta driving.

Now that you brought it up, I suppose it could be a problem. I have 2000 miles on my Sebring Silver, and at the rate of the chips I already have, I don't expect the front end will have any paint left at 20,000 miles !!!
My other vehicles travel the same roads at the same times of a day, and they don't appear to be all chipped up.... interesting....

This is an issue with ALL S2000s...many of us have noted the abnormally thin paint compared to other cars out there. Feel comfortable in your choice of color, though, as silver shows chips the LEAST. We all have a layer of white primer underneath, so imagine how it looks on a black S! Also, the aluminum components (i.e., hood) match up pretty well to the silver.

Interesting thread. . .
I've noticed that my Sebring Silver has developed more "knicks" in the paint as well and more "chips" have been exposed than ever on my '00 S2000 Berlina Black with 38k miles. I currently have about 8,500 miles on my '02 and there are quite a few (maybe 15) little knicks. . .
I have contributed it to many things. . .
1) I am now more active with my '02 in group events and get togethers than ever before
2) In these events, I drive either second or third in line and this seems to be more of the aggressive driving that occurs
3) The folks I choose to follow like Gregg and 1RandyC are mythical maniacs looking for every patch of gravel to launch onto my S2000!
Alright. . .just kidding about number 3. . .
What others have said is ABSOLUTELY correct! The S-02's are very "grippy" tires and launch debris like individual missles. . .what I've learned to do is follow less closely and try to anticipate when the driver ahead is going to a) completely slam into the shoulder of a gravel patch
. . .or. . . b) run out of paved road and slam into a secondary road comprised of granite chunks!
I don't really think it's a Honda thing. . .I believe had I driven my '02 as "gentle" as my '00, I would have no issues. But what would be the FUN in that!

First of all, there is no such thing as a bad color choice. (It's the car that counts, after all).
You need to make the choice based on what works best for you. This is the way I thought about it:
Yellow - great looking color, but way too 'loud' for me personally.
Red - similar, plus my last 2 cars (CRX Si and Prelude Si) were red (Prelude still is).
Black - was my second choice, decided against it because I'm not fanatical enough to keep it perfectly clean all the time.
White - my least favorite, but still looks great. Also high maintenance.
Blue - very, very classy, but since I'm considering keeping the car until it falls apart, this may be a bit dated (especially the blue interior) in about 20 years. May not be a factor for you.
Silver - the new Sebring is really beautiful in the sunlight. Reflects what's around it in interesting ways. Plus, it's not too flashy (more my style). I added the RED interior to give it a bit of flair.
Pick what works for your personality. I suspect that will be the choice you'll find easiest to live with.
I ordered the car months before I was ready to buy, so was able to make the choice carefully. I know I'll be happy for many years with my choice.
Ideally, see the various colors in person. No photos I've seen do any of the colors justice.
Good luck in your choice!

I don't think the chipping problem is at all unique to the silver. My red beauty also has its share of chips after nearly 27K miles of loyal service. It's called wear and tear. My previous cars had the same "problem".
