Audio Controls
I'll ask Rob. As far as I know, the answer is YES.
If you look at their GM/Chrysler "Remote 1" you will see that it has TWO outputs for the steering wheel information to the head. One is a 3.5 mm plug and the other is an IR LED.
Here is their page:

Here is my picture of their box (along with the Alpine KCE-865B:

I think the Soundgate Remote-for-the-S2000 will connect via hardwire to a few radios with a 3.5 mm dash remote lead (right now just the IVA-C800 in the USA market) and will connect via IR link for others. The difference between Soundgate's solution and PAC's solution, as far as I can see, is that Soundgate learns which car it is to program by dipswitches inside and the PAC unit learns via programming with the dash controls and your IR remote.
I might be wrong. I'll ask Rob, Soundgate's owner. He did tell me they will be supporting Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer and Clarion.

It is impossible to tell from that picture... There it lookes like the same recepticle as the antenna one. What you are looking for... looks exactly like a 1/8" stereo headphone socket. If you really want a 7990 or any other high-end unit, a good understanding Alpine dealer will let you see the back of one of them...
Don't forget: you still need to find a KCE-865B from Europe. I had an extra one on order for 4 months before I gave up and asked for a refund. You would have a much greater chance of finding a 7990 at your local dealer than getting an 865B from Europe...

bshigeta, this thread will answer all your questions except whether or not the KCE-865B will work with the CDA-7990.

paid with a credit card, hmmm, i know for awhile that he wasn't shipping the adapters overseas cause people were having problems installing them, maybe that's why, i had to convince him that i was going to get it to work with a certain alpine head unit, otherwise i paid that way
