Default Auto-Window-Down Fix ... After Warranty?

According to another post ... the problem has been figured out by Honda. Had something to do with parts supplier or something. Has anyone had Honda repair this for no charge after warranty is expired ... MY01 recently went out of warranty and is experiencing this problem. I've tried the "quick fix" offered by some, but it is only temporary. I'd like to think they would repair this for no charge since they have service bullitins on it. Just thought I'd see if others have been succesful before I go in ...

What's the problem with your window exactly?

Many owners that have had aftermarket speakers fitted in the doors simply need the auto-down reset by their dealer.

Must be to do with disconnecting the power or something I guess.

Ok. Well....have your dealer check if it needs re-setting on your next service. It's one of the most common causes.

Honda has produced a better window regulator (motor, controller). If you are out of warranty, it won't hurt to try to get this for free. If they don't, you can also try the window reset trick. However, this only works for a very few people. On the most part the problem comes back and it seems each time, it comes back sooner. Mine got to the point that a reset worked for only one window open/close cycle.
Your last choice (if you want to save money) is to put in an "AutoLok" module. This will give you both auto-down and auto-up. I've done this to my driver's side window and I love it. Search for a thread by "EMC2". He was the one who posted about installing one of these modules.

Thanx guys ...

Yes, I am aware of the reset "fix". I've tried it a number of times and like xviper have found it to be temporary.

Yes, I plan on pushing the issue with the local dealer but wanted to see if I could get some "success stories" of others to help my case ...

The autodown function when the soft top is lowered stopped working for me. Honda repaired it free of charge under warranty.
