Every so often there is a company on Amazon that sells those for DIRT cheap. I picked up a white AP1 and a black AP1 for like $7 shipped
$7 AUTOart 1:18? Unbelievable... I want one too...
Yep, there was actually a post on S2ki about it - we probably bought every single car this company had haha, I'll try to find the original post.

Amazon Amazon

I bought that for $4 shipped

And a white one like 2 months later for $18 shipped

Haha, got really bored

I don't like models, so I bought an extra S2000 and had Willy Wonka shrink it for me.

Irrelevant unless you have a time machine that the OP can use.

These things become harder to find as time passes by and the yellows are definitely not as common either. As stated above, every once in a while there's a cheap option but it's not very common.

I would have also considered buying whatever other available color and painting it myself.

I thought about this of course, but you have to take the car apart right? How do you avoid painting decals such as the honda symbol, the side reflector, etc.? Do you take them off too? What if they are painted or glued on?

Good point--that would be really hard to mask off. You'd probably have to paint everything and then go back with a fine brush + a steady hand to repaint the symbols and such. Then you'd be getting into different colors of paint required...suddenly not too cost-effective

I can probably hand paint Honda symbol, but try Porsche...

Short answer: No, spraying exterior color is not practical. Brush painting exterior won't give a nice shine. Painting interior where shine isn't so important is probably possible.

I found a Road and track collector one on eBay not too long ago for really cheap. Think I got it for under $20 shipped new.

I'm amazed that shipping from Greece to US took only 9 days! Anyway, It arrived, with a bumper falling apart but that's easy to fix. AUTOart does put lots of effort making this model. Highlights include the carpet texture, a real flexible safety belt, and metal emblems that you can feel with your finger. However, a huge disappointment is that the bumpers have a slightly darker color than the body! In fact, I should probably say the body has a lighter color because the bumper color is closer to the real thing. I don't know if it's my bad luck or all yellow AUTOart have this problem. I Googled and found a few complaints about yellow Lambos.

Guess what? The next morning under sunlight, mystically, the bumper color appears identical as the body color!! Any non-superstitious explanations? But I'm gladly surprised.
