Default Awesome dyno day!

Went to a dyno day this weekend and was one of the last cars to run. Everyone got the results they were expecting except me, I thought I was going to achieve around the 185 to the wheel mark.

My car was only suppose to do 2 runs but the techy's got carried away with it and did 6 runs!! Turns out they gained 3whp from simply removing the airbox lid somehow.

Heres a video of the run:

Final result: 198.3whp
Please excuse the flowers, my car came out pink in the camera and they had to take the piss! Also the guy that owned the car before me liked Marvel comics a bit too much.

Was very impressed seeing this is stock, the dyno had been recently calibrated and the appropiate compensation factors had been loaded.

must of just had filter instead of the airbox, may have gotten the increase because you had the bonnet open at the same time...

nice car though dude...just waiting on mine now...2 more years to go

Just airbox lid off for the most powerful run.

How comes having your bonnet open gives more bph?

I would guess because you are able to get cooler air to the air filter with the airbox lid off and the hood open. That large fan infront of the car probably helps a little too.

On a dyno the airbox lid off will usually read higher.

But in real world driving you will get some heat soak and your car will run worse. Keep the lid on.

Although when I went to a recent dyno I gained 3whp when we put the lid back on. Could just be dyno error though?

In the real world, your car is usually moving, drawing in fresh air.

See that was their arguement to take it off too, because when your driving all of the hot air is being pushed to the back of the engine!

I dont know who to believe anymore, im just gonna get a CAI asap.
