Default Axialflow's short shifter

I have followed the evolution and refinement of this product over the past 4 months. Can anyone who has the latest version, newer than the July 06 release, tell me of rattle/noise is still and issue?

Thanks in advance

Don't know about the latest version. I bought one from Ricks a few months ago and it was a POS! After trying several suggestions here and elsewhere I finally just threw the F****** in the trash. Rick has always had GREAT products but the short shifter should have never made it to market. IMHO. There was a clear resonance frequency which is not good for any mechanical system let alone one with critical gear surfaces. I hope they can get it right as the mod is a great one. Coincidently I received a new boot from Rick's about a week after I chucked the lever. Having an extensive background in vibration dynamics it didn't seem like it would cure the proble, but I admit I never tested it. While I will go back to Ricks in the future I would NEVER buy another Axial product! I'd spend my money elsewhere for now.

Try a voodoo countersunk knob first. Its cheaper than going the other route. I feel that with a voodoo shift knob, the height is just fine for me.

The short shifter is more mechnical feel to it.

Just my .02.

That is the worse review of the short-shifter I have ever read! Glad that you are open and honest with everyone How did you like the feel of it though?

my .02 ...

the feel of the RP shifter is very good - the short(er) throws as a result of shorter stick - are smooth & precise.

the entire design lacks proper insulation from vibration & noise. with all the post intro fixes applied I was not able to eliminate the buzz/rattle reported by numerous users.

I don't think this product was sufficiently tested in application prior to release to market... and ultimately does not live up to the Ricks2k.com standard of product excellence.

Ricks2k.com & Jeff (Stratocaster) have responded and dealt with my issues in a professional and completely satifactory manner. I will buy from Ricks again & again.

PS - I did purchase offf eBay a C's Style SS (approx $90)...installed and enjoying a quieter, vibration free, short throw shift.

FYI - Comptech is coming out with a short shifter for the S. It must be a hard product to design - they're taking forever to release it.

Why would it be hard? C's has had one out for nearly 7 years, available every now and then on ebay. Unfortunately it's designed more for RHD vehicles, but billman250 has been able to fix that for a few people. BTW, if you look at the original thread about the Axial SS, I mentioned that I thought it would create a vibration problem and the creator said I was wrong.
