if I put new springs on my stock AP1 to lower it a little and to stiffen it up a little for some trackdays do I need to do axle spacers?

yes. On a Ap1 its always good to use. If you are going to track your car then make sure you used the Js racing one. Do not use the half spacers that t1r sells. Ive seen them fly off a car once on the track. It was not pretty.

There is a looooong thread in the Under the Hood forum where this topic was beat to death. There were even to scale CAD drawings done of the s2k suspension and folks pulling out their protractors, slide rules, and engineering mechanics text books.

Bottom line...spacers are NEVER EVER EVER NEVER necessary.

If your car gets the vibration common with lowering ANY s2k (ap2 will get the shakes too if they have more than 30-50k miles), then you can either 1) swap the inner CV buckets; 2) use spacers.

Swapping the buckets costs only time.

Spacers cost money, but if you use the 2-piece, they can save time since you don't need to pull the axle out to install them. Installing the 1-piece takes nearly as much time as swapping the CV buckets...so those are just a waste of money.

Thank you VERY MUCH necamber. I've been trying to get an answer to this question for a week now. I have just bought the BC coilovers and lowered just 15mm from stock and was wondering if these were a NEED to HAVE or a GOOD to HAVE.

I'm sure this applies to toe links /bump steer kits and steering rack spacers also for such a small drop?

Thanks.

The T1R ones are 2 piece and are much much easier to install. T1R Half Shaft Spacers
