Back in the S2000 again!
been a long time but I owned a 2007 s2000 for a couple of years and traded it in for the following:
1) Acura RL - thought I need something more practical
2) Accord V6 coupe - thought the paddle shifting auto with downshift rev matching was the coolest thing ever, wore off quickly
3) 370z - nvh was way too much, tire roar, engine sounded rough, like Clarkson said "I would rather listen to my own firing squad"
4) Honda CRZ - I was sold on the whole sport hybrid with the 6 speed manual, traded it in when I discovered It couldn't beat a minivan in a stoplight grand prix
5) 4cylinder mitsu eclipse - not sure why I did this, didn't last long
6)Chrysler crossfire -it looked cool and was dirt cheap, maintenance issues quickly killed the thrill
then today I test drove the following
2005 s2000 - throttle pedal felt mushy, and engine wasn't as responsive as I remember, then it hit me, 2005 was pre Drive by wire
went to check out a 2007 - felt bad for the car, I had been abused, tears in the roof, curb rashes everywhere, and it had been in an accident, sad
checked out an 08 - same story, sad state of affairs, looked like the previous owner ran over a serious curb, patched up roof.... no respect for the s2000
finally checked out an 09 blue S, thought the final year of production would be best and WOW, it was flawless, engine was super responsive and it immediately felt perfect
The thrill of driving is back... and putting the roof down while on the move is still satisfying, first mod I did

Good story, welcome back :-) I came back to an 06 in for good now :crossfingers: plan is to keep, do about 3,000 kms per year and hand it to my 6 yr old daughter in 10 years or so. Daily drive a Jeep to preserve the S
Nice man.. same here.. I went through hell with a BMW 740i (3rd one) It took me months to sell it. Finally when I did and was more than glad to step back in an S2000. Found myself a 2000 in rougher condition, but its in good hands now. Slowly getting restored and repaired.
My girlfriend's boyfriend drives a crossfire (non convertible) as did my old supervisor, same colors too (red).. They both said they drive "a mercedes in disguise". Beats me, I believe at that point their interiors or something were designed by MB, but I wouldn't go much further than that. The Crossfir'es 18F and 19R wheel/tire setup was an interesting take, though the SRT crossfire's (they didn't have the SRTs) were pretty neat, I still just would never own one.
Anyways, enough of my rambling.. Welcome back!!!
I bet it feels good.

1. I have an o4 S, and a neighbor friend bought a Crossfire.
2. I could have bought one cheaper than my S, in fact, they got my attention when I was hunting 3 yrs. ago, b/c I saw some priced really fine for the year and mileage, but the alarm bells were alerted in my car brain as well.
3. Between the word, "Chrysler" and "Mercedes" I wouldn't buy one with miles on it, not when I could buy a Honda sports car, b/c I am more concerned with what I spend after the purchase than with the initial price; it comes from money pit antique cars I used to own. I did look longingly at a Porshe for $22k, but I didn't drive it incase I lost control of myself, ha!
4. I acted like it was a sweet buy to my neighbor, but I can't wait to see what happens over the years; I hope he's got one that just keeps on ticking!
