Yes, it does, on the AP2. This functionality was specifically implemented to take the mystery out of the whole "A valve retainer cracked, was it over-revved?" scenario. And I don't believe that clearing the CEL has anything to do with clearing that the over-rev occurred. Otherwise, anyone who over-revved the car could just reset the ECU, which clears any CELs anyway (unless this ECU works differently than any I'm experienced with) and then claim the damage was a manufacturing defect. That would be pretty dumb of Honda to do, so I bet it's written to some writable area of the ECU for historical purposes, even if the CEL is cleared.

Anyone know for sure? If I'm right, he could just have the car examined at an impartial 3rd-party dealer, but it seems to me he's really just concerned about the car being taken to redline a few times inside of 600 miles, which IMO is not something I'd advise doing (just because Honda doesn't) but nothing to get really worried about.

This whole thread smacks of "buyer's remorse" to me.

You could get a 3 party to verify the code in ECU memory. You could get a mechanic to crack the lid. You could hope for the best.

Or...

You could buy it in the plastic off the truck.

I choose option 2. Cheaper, easier, and no ifs and buts.

If you don't buy it off the truck (with plastic wrap on the body), then you are getting a gutted ride.
Lucky for me I did!!

As to the OP's question, i would watch how much oil your car burns.

Or you could rely on the 5yr/60k warranty to handle any issues that may have occured during the "test drives"... That's my plan

the clutch and tranny is what really needs the break-in period, not the motor itself

your car is fine

Slow down there, the factory warrenty on the 2006 was 3yr/36,000 miles. Where'd you get this 5 yr stuff? Did you buy the extended warrenty? Or am I missing something?

It says in the manual to do a break in. Honda wouldn't put that in there.

I got mine with 6 miles and would refuse to buy anything with more than 10.
One could hit vtec many times in 6 miles.
