I'm 100% with everyone else. Run away. Post your SI up for $8k and let someone talk you down the the $7000-7500 range and during that time save money with the goal of having maybe $10-11k. That can buy you a good driver S2000 certainly a better one than the one pictured. That thing is ROUGH. If it was $5k then maybe but I expect it has layers of issues you'd start finding as you went through it.

My goal would be just take the soft top and motor out and put a hard top on, Get a new fender, attempt to align the trunk, detail the engine bay and strip the paint from the valve cover and re-paint it, get those smaller carbon fiber side mirrors, get new seats, get a new steering wheel then I would feel it would be a good looking S.

??
This is probably the same aspiration that the current owner had.

Then he decided to just go back to not doing that.

Couldn't you just get a nice one for the amount of money you plan to throw into this?

I understand your situation. You want something different than your Si. And YOLO.

Its not the logical choice. But logic is for when you're old. YOLO away if you feel its gonna be fun. Making regretful decisions is what being young is about. I'm saying this genuinely.

Sigh. If you are set on really considering this you need to have a really through inspection done. Just a few issues could totally derail you mod plans and make you wish you had listen to everyone in this thread. The S is generally reliable but its not a car that does well with little to no care and it can get expensive fast. I still say run away and find a better example.

Do what you’re going to do. People on here are trying to give you honest feedback. To me it sounds like you have some personal financial matters to work through. I would think that would take priority over getting an S2000. But hey, keep on living that American dream!

I am moving on from the black one. Your guys advice swayed me away from it.

I did just post a link for a different one, could you provide feedback on the silver 02? Thank you.
