Bad score for S2000 on Consumer Guide Online

Right on. Honda stuck to its guns and built a snarling, unadulterated SPORTS CAR with a bad attitude -- just what I wanted!

The article recommends either a BMW z3 2.5, or a Miata, as easier to live with day to day. I have a 2000 z3 2.8 and it is much harder to live with than my s2000. The body quivers and shakes over even the slightest road irregularity. The body structure on our s2000's is the stiffest of any roadster I have driven.
Ours is a true sports car, and is razor sharp in its execution! We own them because we are enthusiasts, and the noise be damned.

Here is what I think about the popular opinion about S2K:
When Integra Type R arrived in the US, even though there were very limited numbers, many of them sat in the dealerships. With the lack of knowledge about that car and its purpose, common buyer felt that it was too rough and loud. A lesser GSR came with moonroof cruise and AC for less money. The common buyer didn't even know how to drive it and felt that it was rather slow and sluggish.
I believe that the same common buyer can make similar comments about the S2000. Loud and rough. Slow because he doesn't know better and shifts at 4000rpm. We, the members of an automobile fan club, are a very small portion of a larger group of potential buyer for this car. Hearing comments like ones in this thread should only make you feel good about the fact that you know all the secrets about your loving automobiles.
On a similar note, I am sadden when I see an S2000, a BMW M car or a 911 is driven by a kind of driver who would never get close to experiencing the potential capabilities of his or her car.

someone needs to write a letter to these idiots. they sound like amateur drivers with little to no experience reviewing automobiles. they arbitrarily give number ratings with little to no logical explanation as to why they rate it as so.
Ride Quality - 2
Instruments - 3
Quietness - 1
this website has no concept of what to look for in a "sports car." again, i say they're idiots.

The review is about right. Don't forget that the S2k is pretty high on the Lemon list too. In fact higher than the Ford Explorer: http://www.lemonlaw.com/lemonlist.html

Look carefully - though they call it the "lemon list," the list actually details complaints people filed with NHTSA regarding their vehicles (these complaints, if they endanger safety and are valid ususally result in a recall.)
However, I went to the NHTSA web site and couldn't find any complaints on record regarding 2002 or 2001 S2000s.
More importantly, here is a summary of the complaints that came up under a search of the 2000 S2000:
* Recall for seat belt not retracting when seat is all the way back
* Plastic rear window "creases and you lose visibility as a result"
* 2nd gear grind
* A/C failure
* Driver spun car off road while exceeding the legal speed limit
Of these, only the 2nd gear grind is a complaint I'd consider recall-worthy, and even then it's pretty rare.
Further, I did a search and couldn't come up with anyone on this board who's had an S2000 lemoned, and it's pretty rare that any board doesn't have at least one poster who's had their car lemoned, be it Porsche, Audi, or whatever other brand.
Don't believe me, though; run a search for yourself (and compare the S2000's record to that of some other vehicles; the 1997 Jeep Wrangler is a good one if you have some time to spare
)
