Default Bad Smell, Worried.

Well I put the car away today for the winter. The storage area that I put my car has a high lip, so I had to put down some wood to get up and into the garage.

So as I am doing this I'm revving the car pretty hard because there is a large hill besides that. I noticed that there was an awful burning smell. I know for sure it's the clutch. But I just replaced the clutch a few months ago. It's a ACT Stage 2. Is it because I was revving it so hard, or isit because it needs to be adjusted. There's no way the clutch is done. I've barely driven the car since the clutch change.

If the clutch slips enough, the clutch material will overheat and "burn". Burning clutches are one of the worst smelling things I can think of. Other than the increased wear, there shouldn't be any damage.

Next time, consider getting a running start rather than trying to launch right on top of a board. I realize it's hard to launch slowly uphill anyway but with a board right at your wheels, there's a good chance that your clutch won't grab, causing it to burn.

Sometimes, this is unavoidable. I've only really smelled it once when I got stuck on a large hill in traffic. Don't worry too much about it.

I'm a worry wart when it comes to cars, any little thing, noise, anything and I'm trying to analyze what it could be.

Thanks for your help. Another season gone. I know we still have time and nice days ahead, but I was holding off for new rims and tired for the spring so I was driving on bald tires, they were so bald I was wearing down the wear bars. LOL

As I was washing my other car, I noticed something weird looking on my tire of the S2000. Well it wasn't something on it. It was the belts coming through the rubber. I had pretty much no rubber left on the inside of the rear tires.

So it's a another season. Thank God I didn't put it in the ditch this year. LOL, Now it's time to spend money on the car over the winter. Let the fun begin.

Like others are saying I wouldn't get to worked up over the clutch, probably just some slipping and they have some good advice
For a worry wart I'm surprised you let your tires get that bad, a little bit of rain or water on the road and that might be trouble.
Such a sad thing that winter is coming, time to get ready for snow...

Yes, I know when I saw those tires, I freaked. LOL I actually drove in the rain last week, it was scary. Iknew the tires were bald but not that bad. I've never been so scared driving on the 401. If you guys know where I can get a good deal on rims and tires, let me know. I'm looking for 17". I had 18's, non-staggered. Never again.
