Smile Bad support from vendor

Update:

Gary never sent out the part and has not answered my past 2 PMs (and I have given him plenty of time). So disregard what I wrote below.

I got an exhaust component from Gary@ImportTuningGarage. The compenent turned out to have a manufacturing defect. I PMed Gary about it. He replied the next day and offered to immedidately send me a replacement part (before I will be able to pull off and send back the defective part). Good communication and standing behind the parts they sell are two requirements of a good vender in my opinion.

I had a return and Gary was very responsive.

How much time was "plenty of time"?

Looks like a month from the date of his original post.

Wow, that is pretty long then. I would be upset as well.

Hopefully Gary will see this post.

I got a PM on Oct 13 saying he would ship me a replacement pipe (and PM me a tracking number). I never got the pipe or a PM with tracking number. I waited a few weeks and than sent a polite PM, I got no response. I sent another PM and got no response.

Gary has made many posts since I PMed him so he has been online. I don't mind waiting for a while but not responding to PMs or following through on your word does not inspire confidence. It's not worth the hassle of dealing with someone over a $98 part so I figured I would just post this and send a copy to the S2ki moderaters/administrators.

Honestly, PM"s are the worst possible way to do business. If you tried to email or call him on the phone and still had the same results, then you would really have more to go on. Some board vendors have even disabled PM's since it's impossible to do business that way. The only reason I still have mine on is to perform admin or moderator functions. I prefer to do business via email so that I have a trackable and searchable history of communication with all of our clients. Just one datapoint from someone who's been there.

ive never had a problem with gary before, and vouch him off a lot to other s2k owners.

i think the best way ive contacted him, is thru AIM and phone. the best more instant-live methods of communication.

I just installed a megan test pipe I ordered from Gary. First test pipe I received was damaged upon delivery. I told Gary and he immediately had a new one sent out to me. The damaged test pipe was picked up two days ago free of charge. No complaints here.
