Ballast is out... idea on fix...
OK so i finally got my lazy ass up to check to see what is wrong with my headlight. The pass side was out for the past month. At first the pass side headligh was flickering for the first 5 seconds, then completely shutting off. Then a week later it just didnt work, period. After swapping the bulb from side to side i verified that the bulbs are find and the pass side ballast is toast.
According to the local Honda dealership the ballast costs over $300 new and on ebay and here they cost $150 used. Instead of replacing the unit with an OEM part, would it be possible to replace the entire system with a 50watt aftermarket kit such as this one?
humble answers please. im not made of money and im definately not trying to neglect the car but since this would increase the lighting output and cost a lot less, i figured that i'd ask. I dont mind splicing a few wires. Of course id get it with the 4300k temp. or maybe the 6000k since my OEM 4300k's are fine.
