Default base S2000 vs. Type V

Has anyone read anything as far as reviews or comparisons between the two cars?

I started a thread a day or two ago debating whether or not, after my arrival in Japan, should purchase another S2000 or some other JDM gem, but I am feeling more and more inclined to grab another S, since having a practical car is not really necessary in and around Tokyo.

However, after several searches I have been unable to turn up anything ( in English anyway ) comparing the performance of the Base model S2000 and the Type V sold here in Japan.

I know the Type V uses a variable ratio steering rack, to increase driving safety at speed, but I see no numbers, lap times or comparisons on the two... which is slightly off putting because some of the finest S2000's out here on sale are Type V's and I don't want to dive right in without sort of knowing what I could be getting into.

Any information is much appreciated as usual

But I would say go for the Type V. Was able to google it was able to find the specs an performance data. Not only that but, you already had a US spec S2k. It would be neat to be able to pick up a JDM special model S2k and to be able to compare the differences.

Did he give any more examples of how it was tricky at the limits???

I know it had to be because of the steering but was it because of how the car was being driven??? ( I plan to track my car here of course )

The biggest thing that worries me about climbing into the cockpit of a Type V is the fact that while I am sure its trick steering system is quite a cool piece of kit, derived from F1 tech, it also cost a pretty penny when the thing acts up, which is something you wouldn't ordinarily have to worry about on a standard S2000.

The first thing I thought when I saw your post about your friends comments on its handling at the limit was " is there a weak spot in how the mechanism functions, or is there a malfunction?? "
