Default Basic AP2 Questions

I have a couple questions, so please don't flame me if someone has asked them already. I'm new to this board (after 18months driving a POS I'm back in an S2000!).

1. My water temp gauge NEVER gets halfway up. It's always like 2 or 3 bars shy of dead center. On most other cars I've driven, halfway is the indication of correct water temp. If it's low, it usually means you have a bad temp sender.

So, is it normal on an AP2? Or is my sender bad?

2. What's the best intake for an AP2 (sound-wise) that doesn't require anything permanent (like cutting your fender liner). I'm not looking to spend more than $300 on an intake, but I need more sound from my engine...I'm missing 1000 rpm up top!

Thanks.

I have always gotten 7 bars on my water temp gauge when warmed up.
I don't know about intakes, but it looks like the K&N FIPF doesn't require any body work. You might just try a K&N drop in air filter for more sound.

My temp gauge stays just shy of center - seems normal to me. Never counted the bars.

K&N FIPK can be had for approx 250 - nice sounds; myself & other report improved throttle response;claims of HP gains debatable....
