the secong pic of the lawn chair, i put one in my car when i was heading to the beach. The only problem was, i had to remove my spare tire and the covering for the spare. The chair barely fit in the trunk with the boot hinge.

I don't know that there is an issue. I'm going to go find an REI and check it out. I don't love that it doesn't have arms, but the sides might make up for it (want arms so I can rest my elbows on them while reading/surfing on the phone.) I also want to make sure it has enough of a reclined angle; the traditional umbrella chairs like the one in my original post have you sit nearly bolt upright and it isn't particularly comfy, at least for relaxing on the beach.
