Default Benefits of Flywheel

I'm just curious as to what you get out of a lightweight flywheel?
like weight savings and power to the wheels. Are they substantial at all?
I have a MY04 so if anyone has done this or has any knowledge on the topic it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Josh

oh and how much it costs

a lighter flywheel reduces drivetrain losses, increasing power to the wheels. Some have said 15HP, but I'm skeptical on that. Maybe 5?

also, the engine will rev faster, and drop down slower. It makes stop/go driving harder just so you know.

i am not an expert, but i think the lighter flywheel revs faster because it is lighter and also loses revs faster because there is not enough weight to maintain the heavier stock flywheels circular momentum making you prone to quick shifts and possible stall, but i am not sure. anyway there are threads on this already, i am sure i have seen those around.

By adding on a flywheel, you will get better engine response like faster revs but this will not add and HP at all. The idea is to get better power transfer to the wheels. The driveability of the car remains almost the same.

I had added a lightweight flywheel to my CRX Si for solo racing. It allows the engine to rev quicker and, as stated above, allows for quicker shifts and better elapsed times.
I too have an '04 S2000 but I find the clutch take up too slow when speed shifting. I'd like to know if anyone has already replaced their 04 clutch/pressure plate with a better after market unit? From what I've read Honda made the my04 clutch take up slower to reduce rear end failures. Any truth to this?

Yeah, suposely the clutch is designed to be the weak link in order to protect the diff.

faster revs = faster shifts.

thats what you get from a flywheel.

The s2k has a ~15lb flywheel stock which is already very light. Aftermarket ones are streetable but do require some concentration to start at first but it doesn't take long for your brain to learn to give a bit more gas/clutch slip and then you forget about it all together.

Better throtle response, faster revs...BETTER DRIVEABILITY...assuming you know how to drive a stick.

I did stall my car ONCE, it was immediately after the ACT PP and Comptech Flywheel install at the first stoplight out from the dealer...I think it was also due to the VERY low engagement of the clutch because it was BRAND NEW.

I think the driveablity is better because matching revs between shifts is much faster and easier with a slight blip in the throtle.

I also noticed a difference in the butt dyno...like said probably not much HP is freed up...but I noticed it, bigger difference in the lower gears. I'm going to the track on friday, you could see my mods in my sig...I'll post what I get...but I'm shooting for a 13.9

Ohh ya...and on one of my favorite on ramps here in town, I noticed a consistant about 2mph gain
