Bent Rim
The inevitable happened. I bent a rim.
I installed a set of 18inch Racing Harts, and went with the 3 piece for a reason. I was advised that the advantage of a 3 piece wheel is that if you bend a piece, that section only will get replaced.
Basically, I hit a hole at 45mph and having no protection over the rim(I know, I know, thats what I get for going with a 225/35 18 in the front), the outer lip bent.
Here is where the problem lies. When the wheel shop called Dazz in California, they were informed that wheels are sold in whole, and no particular section can be ordered alone.
Anyone have any experience, advice.
I really don't want to have to dish out $700. After all, thats the 3 piece advantage, right?

There are outfits that straighten aluminum rims. I had a rim on a Mazda 323 GTX straighted and painted. Haven't had any problem with it, but it wasn't a hi perfomance 18" rim, just a runofthemill 14". Don't remember the name of the place, but any wheel shop should know of one. Mine went to Tucson and I think I've seen their adds in back of auto mags.
Definitely try to get it straightened before shelling out the $700. Had some cast aluminum stock wheels (phone dials) on my 928 straightened with great results.
Good Luck!
225/35's?????????? what you running on the rear?

pnty drpr - nice screen name
Sorry to hear about the rim. I can't offer any specific recommendation about a repair, but I'll be at the Tower Shops tonight if you want to cruise by. They are located just south of I595 on the east side of University Drive, and are the site of a large car show every Friday from 5-?. I'll be there at around 5 for about an hour or so.

pnty drpr,
I'm in the same boat. I have the DAZZ matiz 18's (3-piece). I haven't bent one yet. I think it might be a problem getting one sections of a rim since these come from Japan.
If you do need to replace the wheel, let me know before hand. I know someone at Goodroads (off Commercial), and I should be able to get you a better deal than $700 a wheel.

I believe the place S2WOOOW is talking about is 'Wheel America'....I think. Their ads are in the back of most well known car mags. They advertise 24hr turnaround and repairs start $99.00 per wheel. I personally don't have any experience with them but have heard that they're good.

RT - I know, I know. I'm paying for the size choice. The car is lowered (H&R) and I wanted good clearance. I am running P-Zero's, so I will have to get new tires in a couple of months or so(not much life out of them). I will most likely go with 220/40, or 235/40. That should give me more protection.
I am running 255/35 in the rear. Looks and fills in great. The car is so much more aggressive/wider from the rear.

CoralDoc - Tower Shops? Off 595 and University. I will stop by. Is this 5am?
I am also going to Hot Import Nights tomorrow night at the convention center. There should be some nice cars there. You should check it out.
S2K-F8 - Thanks for the offer. I also deal with Good Roads, Matt specifically. I have taken all my cars there for the past 7 years, and I guess I can get a bit of a deal, but they normally sell the 18 for $730, so I don't know how much I can save. Matt told me that they can send it out to get it fixed, so that is what I might do. I just wanted some opinions of people who have done this. The rim is nicely polished, and I am a perfectionist, so I want to make sure it will come out nice.

Does Matt work up front, or in the back (wholesale)??
Which Racing Hart wheel did you go with?
What are the sizes? Did you stagger the fitment from front to back?
I think the Racing Hart wheels and the DAZZ wheels are around the same price. I paid $640 for the fronts and $680 for the rears
18x7.5 / 18x8
S2K-F8 - Matt works up front. I know they have the DAZZ wheels on display for like $600+. I have the RacingHart C5's. I think they are like 9s, or 9.5s in the rear. Pretty wide, with the 255/35 on them. The lip is nice and deep. Front are much narrower(7.5 or 8), with the offset much different, giving very little lip depth.
What tires are you running?
I am going to get it fixed, I guess. Can you find out what deal you can get? If its not too bad I may consider replacement. Although I would much rather spend $100 - $200 to fix it and spend the rest on a new exhaust(planning on a X-Mas gift to myself, HKS)
