best average speed on long trips?
I just came back from a 3000kms (1800miles) trip across Europe (London-Paris-Milan-Marseille-Paris-London), and I did some 'quite' fast driving (the AVERAGE speed on the right lane of Italian highways is 200kmh/124mph, and I had to let angry CLKs pass because they were tailgating me at this speed into heavy traffic....).
I'm very very very bad at maths so if anyone could tell me what my average speed is on those 2 trips is :
- Calais-Paris : 300kms = 1h30minutes
- Marseille-Paris : 800kms = 5h30minutes

Hey le car. Sounds like a nice trip. You're right about the women and cheese in Paris. The women in London are quite lovely (a.k.a. fine) also. Two of my favorite places to travel. Mainly because of the women and food!

), and I have trouble keeping under 200kmh, it's just too tempting... And that's where I reached my top speed of 262kmh a few months ago. And the second part is a bit more crowded, but at 3 in the morning I had not much to worry about. It's stupid though because if you get caught over 200 in France you go to prison.
But I'm still far from what the french car magazine 'SPORT AUTO' did a year ago : they had in bold letters on the cover : "Paris-Nice in 5 hours"... just to let you know, Nice is about 1000 kilometers from Paris, and they did it with a 911 and a BMW 750, I think. Of course the government complained, but they remained in the news agent, amazingly.
