Default Best CAI for the S?

I typically would not think twice about it and order an AEM intake. But just curious is any other intakes are better and if you guys think that is a good 1st mod. Do you guys think that is one bolt on with the most noticeable difference?

Are there any issues I should expect after installing a CAI?

Thanks,
D

Well, aren't you guys lucky I'm actually selling two AEM V1 intakes.

As far as power...the AEM compares with all the top dollar intakes. Though the power difference is not large enough to be felt. The sound though is nice, and really sounds mean. I have had no issues with mine, and am only switching to make my engine bay match better. Some people do complain about the risk of hydrolocking, but the majority of them are with the V2's and it is due to a design difference (that I can expalin in a PM). But honestly, I've been through some major rain storms and had my car parked in heavy rain for hours and had no issues...to have an issue you basically have to submerge the whole filter underwater, which is almost a foot deep of water!

So ya...PM me if you are interested

Maybe not, but my AEM V2 gives much improved throttle response which makes it feel more powerful. And the sound it makes at full song is AWESOME!

Go down several pages on the s2k group buy thread. Look for the "Aut radiator plate and CAI" thread. Go to page 7, and look for a post that gives you a link to "the dolebludger mod" Find it and read it. It is the best intake mod you are going to find.

Thanks,
Richard

The "dolebludger mod" as mentioned earlier is about as good as it gets. I also recommend the addition of a snorkel to the stock air box if you're looking for something to fetch you some style points along with performance.

Spoon... and if you have an extra $250, get the spoon filter

and snorkel with an aftermarket filer (K&N or Comptech) in the stock airbox will be most functional outside of going with a J's or Mugen.

Overall, I would say J's did the best job, the carbon fiber (amazing heat insulator) stretches all the way to the intake manifold.

I would say, get a snorkel, filter, keep your airbox, remove the plastic elbow that goes into your intake manifold and replace it with a smooth plastic or aluminum one for less air disturbance.
