S2000 doesn't fare too well here (even though in the video the evaluation was quite good). Somewhat disturbing that the laptime is slower than of the Mazdaspeed3... Anyone has laptimes with their S at Laguna Seca to compare to??

 

This was discussed in two posts last week, so this kind of a repost (sorry), and the S2000 fared very well - it was picked over other convertibles to be in this test. Its like a dog show - first you win best in breed, then you get to try for best in show. Even if you don't win overall, you're still a winner.

As for lap times, the more familiar you are with the car and the track, the better you do. MT's professional driver was familiar with the track, but not the car, so don't read too much into track times - I've seen civilians who own S2000s get better track times.
