Best Immobilizer?
Was just reading through some messages about LoJack, alarms, etc. Then something came to my mind ...
Wouldn't the best immobilizer to have is to pull the fuse for the starter? Or have a "secret" button in the car (ie hidden in a place that isn't exactly easiest place to see with naked eyes but reachable when you know where it is when starting the car, somewhere under the dash) that simply disconnects/connects your starter wire connection? - then you would have 2 immobilizers and they can't drive your car away even if they were able to bypass the factory immobilizer!
Sort of a random thought ... (but of course, all this is useless if they use a tow truck
)

I've always wondered... how can a tow truck tow a car that has it's ebrake on and is in gear?

Ya ... I used to see quite a few cars getting towed in parking lots, on the streets, etc when I lived in Vancouver ...
They don't care ... they just do whatever is needed. They usually try slim jimming it first (go inside and put it into N and take the e-brake off), or use jacks with wheels and then town it onto semi-flatbed trucks (flatbed on a slant, but with all 4 wheels off the ground) ... whatever it takes ... they don't care if your front lip is getting screwed

Yikes! Is that what towers do when the city tows your car for illegal parking, etc. ???
I saw them drag my old Prelude out and then put it back into the spot when they noticed I had a parking pass! They used the wheeled jacks for that, I was in a tight spot.
I've seen an electronic parking brake that acts as a parking brake as well as an immobilizer. I've also seen a valve that you can install on your rear brake line. You step on your brake, pull the plunger attached to the brake line, and it locks the brakes.
Personally, I'll stick with a good car alarm.
