The V1 is hands down the best radar detector I have used, owned, experienced or anything else for that matter. It never ceases to amaze me...

A agree on the V1. It's saved me about 10 times in the two years I've had it.

I have owned several different brands of radar detectors over the last 10 years and my favorite by far is Valentine One. I took a road trip in my S2000 to SoCal from Reno a couple of weeks ago and Mike Valentine saved my arse several times. The range is impressive, giving ample time to react to any alerts, as long as you're not the only car on the road. The directional arrows and the counter are irreplaceable. It's good to know what direction the radar is coming from and how many different radar signals it's receiving. I don't refer to it as a radar detector- I call it my electronic countermeasures. Well worth the extra $.

Hey Spectre, be careful-if the law there is the same as it is here I believe if you get three moving violations within a one year period you get a mandatory license suspension for a couple months. Try to get supervision for one or both of the tickets so they don't go on your record-take it from a fellow speeeeeeeeeder. Anyway, I have researched the best radar detectors myself lately reading everything I could find and it seems the Valentine 1, Bel 980, and Passport 8500 are the top contenders. The Bel 980 can be had for about $250, the Passport 8500 for $299, and the old faithful Valentine 1 will set you back $399. To save the $50-$150 I would probably side with Pinky and go with the Bel 980 but everyone here has their personal favorite. Good Luck!
