Best shifting point on a cold engine?

On a cold morning, I wait 2 min (for good measure although the manual says 1 min is fine), then I shift at 2.5k rpm until 3 bars, then don't exceed 4k rpm until a few minutes later when the oil is up to pressure and temp.
i always wait till i get 2 bars on the temp gauge before moving. after this, i drive very slow and won't exceed 3k rpm. if possible, always use a higher gear but NEVER lug the motor(<2k rpm).
the only bad things about waiting till 3 bars to move is that you're wasting gas and emitting more emissions. i also believe if the engine is left idling for a long time, carbon buildup can occur and that can be a pain to clean out.

Why oh why is the temp guage so imprecise? Six light bars for the whole range of temperatures from absolute zero to meltdown? At least this was addressed for '04-- now it looks like it has maybe 20 bars.
So just to reiterate the major differences between the '03 and '04, for newbies:
'03 -- 2.0 liters, 6 temp bars
'04 -- 2.2 liters, 20(!) temp bars
That's right, with all the hubbub we've seen over a measly 10% increase in displacement, we've completely neglected the staggering 333% increase in temp bar count. Who even knew Honda had developed that kind of temp bar technology?

i usually wait for it to be 3 bars... but when im in a rush i usually shift at 3k.. i have a pretty long stretch of road here getting out of the development thats a 25 mph zone anyway.. other then that.. its pretty hard to abide by that 25 mph =P
