I've got the normal wear spots on my top and they let a little light through but no water through yet. I wanted to get 2 patches to cover them but wasn't sure exactly what to purchase. I've tried doing searches on here but for some reason I can't get anything. Let me know what you guys used please. I've seen this on a threat but not sure if I should get it or not. The patches from that kit won't work. They're way too thin and extremely flexible. The aquaseal would work well as glue, but you need convertible top vinyl to make the patches. Look for someone selling patches cut out of an old top in the for sale forum, or try to find a local upholstery shop and see if they have convertible top fabric.

 

Someone had a used s2000 top they were making into patches and selling. I used some vinyl glue and it works great.

 

If all comes to fail, you can also try your Honda dealer. They sell a small patch (more than you'll need) of top material for about $30.00

 

Dont go to the dealer. Pm billman. Im sure hell have some for a small fee

 

Before I just use tenacious tape
Then I got the idea from a member of using auto goop to seal off the tear first and then applying the tenacious tape
Holds strong (-40 to 60 degree celsius) and water doesn't leak in

Give that a try maybe?

 

Definitely just look for someone selling latches from an old top on here in the for sale section.

 

Years ago I added extra layers to the inside of my top where the pressure points are

You will not have enough rubbing alcohol in the tiny packets supplied that's the only drawback of this stuff
If you follow the instructions the stuff sticks awesome, I just bought a bottle of rubbing alcohol so I could make sure I really got the top clean before I applied the patches
On the two worst spots I put down 2 layers, about a 2" square 1st, then a week later about a 4" square over the top

i messed around trying to do patches but when i eventually got big tears (i was top up/down four times day when i was in florida) i just said f--- it and just did black gorilla tape on both sides. it works, but eventually it'll come off and there is pita glue residue to mess with. i later just sprung for a hardtop (for $600 more than a replacement soft top's cost) 'cause my habits would've worn out a new top in a year anyways.

 

Tear-Aid works good on small tears, it stop leaks but when the weather get hot it shifts.
