best sounding exhaust for a middle age man
Is your Dad's car a 2004? I ask because I believe the bigger engine has a different exhaust tone, and the Mugen I have for my 2004 sounds as refined and mellow as Rick Hesel's SuperSprint, which was the A+ for tone in my book. The more I drive my Mugenized 2004, the more I know I made the right choice. Build quality is absolutely the best I have ever seen, and I have done about 80 catbacks in my career, from a 1995 NSX-T to 300ZX's to Eclipse Turbos to Borla'd and Corsa'd and Billy Boated (Tri-Flo) Corvettes.

The Fuji seems to be a popular choice for those that want an aggressive sound but not too loud. I think the Spugen dual oval fit that criteria as well.
Every single I've ever heard is very f'ing loud.

Dual Oval Spugen gave me the appearance and tone I wanted. I love the look, and while the volume is not a lot greater than stock, it is a deeper, more growling tone. Only the mufflers are stainless......the pipes are aluminized, so some may not like it (though I have no problems, rust, etc. after a year). For looks, sound, and value, it works great for me. Not to mention that Spugen customer service is fantastic.
Others have mentioned MagnaFlow.......the Spugen Dual Oval utilizes MagnaFlow mufflers.
I have heard the Invidia several times. It has a great aggressive sound, but way too much volume for me. You can add silencers, but then you probably aren't much different than stock.
Oh, and I'm 41......much as I hate to admit it, I suppose that qualifies me for "middle-aged".
