Default Best way to ship an S2000

Has anyone moved with an S2000 and whats the best way to transport it? I read that the wheels are too big to use a car carrier towed behind a truck. So it looks like my best option is to ship it. Any thoughts?

Are there any companies to stay away from, or go to, if this is my option? I'm going from Raleigh to Chicago.

Thanks

U-Haul has flatbed trailers.

S2000s are never supposed to be towed by the wheels. It's in the owner's manual. Mostly for clearance issues for the exhaust and front lip.

but can they go on a Uhaul? Penske says that anything with 17" wheels won't fit on the tiedown straps for the wheels and therefor can't be used with their flatbed trailer that tow's behind the truck.

Any experiance?

I used a company called Horseless Carriage (covered trailer) when I moved from NJ to Charlotte. Service was top notch and they were able to tell me where exactly the trailer was when I called for a followup. My car was in a covered trailer with 2 brand new 360 Modenas and a Lambo.

Hmm, my old roommate did a Jetta with 16" wheels and medium profile tires (similar, I'd guess, to the outside circumference on an S2000). U-Haul has more info here:

I've seen Chevy Blazers on OEM wheels and tires being towed on the flatbed trailer. Try calling Ryder and Penske too if you'd rather save some money and go the trailer route. Ryder seems to be the best for longer distance one way stuff.

BEST SHIPPERS HANDS DOWN!!! I just got my S a week ago. I bought it from NJ and I live in GA. I used a company called DAS. This is Ebay's direct shipping company. Great service, no harn to car, loaded on a car hauler/eighteen wheeler. Recieved car in little over a week.

My advice is tow it yourself unless you you have a top notch, known vendor like that mentioned above. My company moved me through a reputable company and it was disturbing to see them drive my cars (pre s2k)

It'll fit on a uhaul flatbed with no problems. I've done it before with 17" MF10s.
