Best way to ship S2K engine ?
hi, guys i'm trying to buy an engine off someone. He's never shipped engines before and neither have I. Just wondering whats the best freight company to go with cost wise? I would like some suggestions. Has anyone ship engines before? Any imput would help. Let me know. Thanks guys.
Buy a wooden palete, or steal one from the back of a store. Buy a couple ratcheting tie down straps (should have them at walmart). Drain ALL the fluids, wrap it in plastic, and tie it to the palete. Call UPS Freight to have them pick it up. http://ltl.upsfreight.com/ Call some friends to have them help you lift it into the truck. one on each corner should make it easy as pie.
I have shipped mr2 engines- set it on an old tire and strap it to a pallet, and wrap it in plastic. Good to go. If you want to put in the extra effort, you could add some plywood to the sides to build a complete box.
