My wife and I picked up a beautiful Silver Acura CL last night (her gift to herself for our twenty-fifth anniversary). For our silver anniversary she gets a silver car; I get a silver camera; however, I digress.

The radio in this car is fantastic. It's a Bose unit, accoustically tuned to the interior. The CD unit is an in-dash changer that holds six CDs. The system has six speakers, including two pillar-mounted tweeters. The accent on this car is comfort, but it's a pretty nice driver as well. The only reason I put this in Car Talk is because of the Issues many have had with the Stook's factory radio. Too bad Honda didn't opt for the Bose system in our babies.

 

I, as well as many others, posted some negative opinions of Bose products in general over in the Stereo/Electronics forums on the subject of a Bose spare tire subwoofer.

In spite of this, I don't doubt that the Bose is superior to the S2000's stock system and I mean no belittlement of your wife's new car. Congrats on the anniversary.

In my opinion all stock head units suck. I replaced hundreds while I was in college (Hear No Evil Custom) and never found one that didn't sound better. Check the price of the "Bose" upgrade and then price an aftermarket upgrade in the same range.

 

All she gets is a CAR for being married to you for 25 years?! Man, what a cheapskate!

I'm kidding...

I actually must digress a litte...I'm sure the Bose system is nice, but I've never been a fan of their stuff, especially the car audio stuff. There is indeed far superior equipment out there, but they seem to have edged out others when they obtained contracts with GM et al, to provide all the gear as optional or standard equipment from the factory. I would say that Bose has more name recognition than it has truly high quality/high fidelity components.

Then again, that's just me, I'm a pain in the you-know-what...

And seriously, I was teasing...congratulations on your 25th...that's a terrific thing, especially these days.
