Not to keep necrobumping this one, but I'm shopping for one of these now, but I wanna get something that's more "get up and go" like a trailer hitch-based bike rack. In various old old old threads here I see rave reviews about the Da'lan trailer hitch (made for S2000), but I don't really see that online at all, so maybe times have changed since then.

What's the new hotness when it comes to solidly-built trailer hitches (1.25" square receiver) for the S2000? (AP1 if it matters)

Thanks in advance!

Probably the best (and only) custom trailer hitch for the S2000: http://www.chaserace.com/s2000/s2000hitches.html

I believe with hitches Da'lan and Chase Race are your only two options.

I also own a Saris Bones, it works well but is just too much of a pain to put on and take off the car. The Hunchrack look easier if you have a lightweight road bike, but if you have a heavy fully suspended mountain bike I'd be afriad of it scratching or denting your trunk or some doofus running into your bike since it sticks out so much.

I just found my old cheap-o rack I've used for ages on other cars... Turns, out it fits very well on the S too! The bike doesn't touch the car at all, I only needed some pads where the mount points hook onto the trunk. Sorry for the picture quality; if there's interest I'll look up the manufacturer & model when i get home.

I ran the bottom rack on an M3 and used 3m painters masking tape (blue) to reduce paint damage. It was a mixed bag. The clips put a lot of load over a small area.

I would go for the hitch style personally.

FTFY

I've got the Hunch Rack, and I like it. Only used it a few times, but no paint damage yet.
