First off i'm new to this forum/s2k ownership and lovin it!
Right to the point... I made the mistake of letting a friend drive my car.
Dispite what i told him he guns it BEFORE I EVEN HAD 2 TEMP BARS!
Right about 6500 rpm the engine makes an awfull sound drowning out my screams. Sounds like some kind of limiter? Revs drop back to around 2k He's flooring it the whole time! In a panic I kick him out of the car and punch him in the guts, he says sorry. What happend? Car drives fine now, no warning lights, happily revs past 6500. Anything like this happen to anyone else? Please calm me down. Thanks

You did the right thing.
I hope that punch hurt!![lol.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif)
You should be fine. The engine will "protect" itself from such things happening.
Don't ever let someone else drive your car again, and always make sure it's warmed up thoroughly before getting on it.

The S2000 engine has a nice feature that lowers the rev limiter if the engine is too cold. It's very unlikely that any damage happened, but your friend is still an idiot.

My ex-girlfriend got was the first person I let drive my car. She gunned it and hit 9,000 rpm in first gear and didn't shift until the rev-limiter kicked in, fishtailing all over the place. Normally she is a very intelligent, considerate person, but I guess some people are so shocked by the rush, they just get their ankle locked on the accelerator like a deer in the headlights.

If he was a decent friend to begin with I wouldn't give up on your friendship over something minute like this. It's a simple mistake that many people here have experienced.
What you felt is a technical feature that won't allow you to VTEC until three bars shows up assuring the bare minimum in temp specs.

when i first got the car... before i read the manual and it was just broken in i did that....immediately the car lost power and i noticed the temp bars and figured out it was like the m3 which does the same thing...car is fine, just a wake up call to take it easy when first warming up.
